Heartbreaking Loss to Drake
Drake University came to town on Friday September 3 to welcome students back in town. With a massive 1884 person crowd came out to see the match between the two. Fresh off a dramatic overtime win, the Wolverines were ready to take on the Bulldogs, preseason ranked #14.
Similar to Wednesday, the Wolverines held a lot of the possession in their opponent's half. The stat sheet was heavily favored to the Wolverines. Michigan had 26 shots to Drake's 12. However (Ooohhh..... You Suck) Jordan held the net well and kept out all the shots on goal, tallying 9 saves.
Drake scored on a deflection.
The Ultras student section was HUGE! There were around 400 students in the cheering section, most of whom were standing the majority of the game. Great turnout, great enthusiasm. I could not be happier with the crowd turnout. Next time, we will be louder and show our spirit, especially when the team needs it.
In conversation with players and coaches following the game, they all gave great thanks to all the fans who showed up. Many mentioned their disappointment they could not get a result with such a big fan base, but they want everyone to come back so they can prove how much the fans mean to them.
Michigan travels to Seattle for a tournament next weekend (games Friday and Sunday). The next home games will be September 15th against Oakland and September 17th against Notre Dame. Big stuff is happening at the ND game so remember to wear your Ultras shirt!
